Tips For Yorkie Adoptions
Yorkie adoptions can be great fun for the whole family. If you have chosen to adopt a yorkie, congratulations! Yorkies are a very loving dog and a great family dog. Before you do adopt a yorkie there are several questions you have to ask yourself though.
Many people when they go for yorkie adoptions automatically assume they will be getting a puppy, which is in fact what most people get. However just consider for a second adopting an older yorkie.
Older yorkies are already housebroken and have had all their vaccinations and are already spayed or neutered. Puppies on the other hand need to be housebroken, which can take a lot of time and patience from all family members.
Puppies also need to have all their vaccinations and need to be spayed, which means more money and that you will likely need to take time off from work to go to the vet clinic.
After that you need to decide where you are going to get the yorkie from. Yorkie adoptions can take place anywhere, breeders, pet stores, and even classified ads to name few options. Some of us even seem to inherit yorkies from friends or family members who no longer want to take care of them.
Each of these places has advantages and disadvantages that go along with them. If you plan on showing or breeding your yorkie than you most likely have to buy one form a registered yorkie breeders and get pedigreed papers. This is probably the most expensive place to adopt a yorkie at.
Pet stores is another place you can adopt yorkies from, but also the one with the most question marks. You don’t know where the dog came from or how it was raised. Also a lot of pet stores sell sick puppies, which means you might have large vet bills right away.
Shelters are another place where you can adopt a yorkie from but you have the same problem with pet stores. They have an unknown origin and you don’t know why they are at the shelter. Most dogs at shelters are there because of behavior problems that owners got sick of dealing with.
So when going for yorkie adoptions take your time and examine all your options.
