Yorkie Housbreaking Tips
Yorkie housebreaking tips can be very helpful for new dog owner’s or those dog owner’s who seem to not be able to get a handle on how to housebreak your Yorkie. Potty training dogs does not have to be difficult, in fact it can be easy if you have the time and the patience to put into it. Our first Yorkie housebreaking tip involves that fact that everyone in the house must be on the same page.
Yorkie Housebreaking Tips
1. Everyone in the house must be on the same page. While you may work hard to get your new dog potty trained, all that hard work could go out the window if other people in the house don’t follow your plan. What happens when you are gone for the day or worse have to leave for a few days on a business trip, who will do the training then?
If you have to leave make sure everyone is one the same page regarding how you are housebreaking your Yorkie.
2. Every hour, every day. One of the main things is consistency. If the dog knows that she will be able to go outside to use the bathroom at set times, housebreaking becomes so much easier. Dogs love schedules and the more structure you provide the easier their life is. When you first get your new puppy try to take them outside as often as possible to use the bathroom. This way they get into the routine of going outside to use the restroom.
3. First thing, last thing and after. Made sure you take your Yorkie outside to use the bathroom first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Also after every meal take them outside as well. Housebreaking is about routines, and the easiest way to housebreak a dog is to be consistent.
Summary
I hope these few tips help you to housebreak your Yorkie quicker. Remember what it basically comes down to is consistency on your part and of those who live in the house.
Yorkies seem to love schedules and to please their owners, give them both and everyone will be happy.
