Yorkie Training
Yorkie training is fairly easy because this breed does appear to be smarter than other breeds of dogs, although I am biased. I have owned other dogs like beagles and boxers, but find the Yorkie one of the best dogs to train simply because they learn quicker.
Normally the first Yorkie training is centered around house breaking. House breaking should be started as soon as you get your new Yorkie puppy. Some people do crate training, which is sometimes easier, but if you have more time to offer, you can usually get by without doing crate training.
I normally just take the puppy outside first thing in the morning, last thing at night and right after every meal. I also try to take them out every couple of hours if time permits.
Every time they do go outside, I offer lots of praise and affection. Positive reinforcement used with Yorkie training works so much better than punishing the dog, and everyone enjoys it more.
As the puppy matures, Yorkie training can now focus on teaching basic commands. I start by teaching the basic sit command because it is a good command that can be incorporated into teaching other commands, and just makes life so much easier.
